What Makes a Painting Good?
It’s a question we often hear, and I would argue there is no unequivocal answer. While art critics, historians and dealers think they know makes a good painting, do they? And are “they” the final word? In my view whether a piece is good has many contributing factors, quite possibly the most important being whether the artist thinks it’s good and why. In this video I talk about several artists from different time periods and with different intents and why I believe they made good - in fact great - works of art. I’d love to know how you feel about this topic.
