Discover Your Artistic Voice with Whole Artist Mastery
OWN your authentic voice. MAKE compelling work. BE the artist you want to be.
Whole Artist Philosophy
Being a Whole Artist means knowing why you are inspired by what you are inspired by so you can OWN your authentic, artistic expression. It means knowing how to use technique and visual language to MAKE work that conveys what you want to express. Owning your voice and knowing how to express that voice fosters confidence and allows you to BE the artist you want to be.
Whole Artist Triad
Making Whole Art requires integrating your emotions and intellectual thoughts with the physical materials that best communicate your unique, personal voice.
When there is an equal and also dynamic balance between the emotional, intellectual and physical in a work of art, the experience of the artwork transcends each individual element allowing for a “Whole Experience” that is indescribably resonant.
Four Phases of Creating Whole Art
Reckless Abandon
Pure, uninhibited self expression; when starting a painting, hold
0% expectations and 100% kindness for yourself..
Critical Analysis
To move a painting out of Reckless Abandon, use critical analysis as opposed to judgmental criticism.
Integration
Compositional decisions are informed by emotional expression; you know what you WANT to do without knowing what you are actually GOING to do in a painting.
Resolution
Can you say “I enjoy my painting up close, from far away, at all times of the day and night, and feel something inexplicable each time I see the painting?” If your answer is yes, your painting is resolved.
Finding Your Unique Artistic Voice
This is one of the greatest challenges for any artist. Work that truly resonates comes from knowing your own voice and how it is conveyed through your particular use of color, composition, and medium of choice. All Whole Artist Mastery online classes, in-person workshops and mentorships emphasize how self-expression informs your unique use of technique and visual language.
