Transmogrify:
To transform in a surprising or magical manner.
“Transmogrify” encapsulates both the genius of creating and experience of seeing the current exhibits, Refik Anadol and Georgia O’Keeffe at MoMA in NYC.
Rafik Anadol is a “Data Painter.” He uses A.I to create fantastically mesmerizing visual experiences in public spaces. The exhibit installation “Unsupervised” stops you in your tracks shortly after entering the museum, challenging your definition of painting before you see “traditional” paintings.
AI is often used to classify, process, and generate realistic representations of the world. In contrast, Unsupervised is visionary: it explores fantasy, hallucination, and irrationality, creating an alternate understanding of art-making itself.

Surprising in a totally different way is the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit “To See Take Time” which focuses on lesser known works showcasing Georgia’s visionary search through the use of watercolor, charcoal and pencil to explore her inner world, and how it was reflected by the surrounding environment.
(Paper) was a foundational material that she was comfortable coming back to when she needed to experiment, develop an idea, or reset her artistic practice.

Artists tap the intangible realm of inspiration, and through a magical alchemic process it becomes tangible art.
